Real cost vs notional list price

The most important honesty question in usage tracking: is this number real, or is it list price?

Real cost

For Claude Code, JP computes cost from the actual per-token counts in your local logs at Anthropic's rates. That is real, metered-equivalent spend, priced to the cent.

Notional list price

For subscription-metered providers like Codex or the Gemini CLI, per-token math produces a notional figure — what the usage would cost at API list prices, not what you paid. JP labels every such number so you always know which is which.

Common questions

Why not just show one number?
Because mixing real spend with list-price estimates is how other trackers mislead. JP keeps them labelled and separate.
