Usage limits
Grok usage limits explained
Grok Build meters SuperGrok / X Premium+ usage against a weekly credit pool. JP can show the official weekly used-percent after an explicit opt-in — never invents a percentage from local tokens.
JP the Cat shows Grok's official used-percent — never a fabricated denominator or a token-based estimate.
Weekly SuperGrok pool
SuperGrok usage is a weekly credit window (not a 5-hour rolling window like Claude/Codex). xAI reports used-percent and the period reset live; Grok Build logs that reading locally when it fetches billing.
How JP reads it
JP the Cat shows Grok's true SuperGrok weekly used-percent only after you opt in (Settings → Live data → Enable Grok live limits). That installs a small marked hook under ~/.grok/hooks/ that scrapes Grok's local billing log line — no auth tokens, no network calls from JP. Without the opt-in, JP shows no Grok limit gauge rather than a wrong estimate. Dollar figures stay notional list price.
Common questions
- When do Grok limits reset?
- SuperGrok weekly credit resets at the end of the current weekly billing period (shown with the used-percent when the Grok live-limits capture is on).
- Does JP the Cat track Grok limits?
- Yes — Grok is live today. SuperGrok weekly % requires the opt-in Grok hook capture (Settings → Live data → Enable Grok live limits); without it JP shows no gauge rather than inventing a percentage.
