How much does Codex cost?

What you actually pay
Codex comes with a ChatGPT plan — $20/mo on Plus, $200/mo on Pro — and your usage is metered against a rate-limit pool, not per token. That subscription price is your real cost.
The notional list price
It can still be useful to know what your Codex usage would cost at OpenAI's API rates. JP the Cat computes that as a clearly-labelled notional figure — never presented as real spend, because on a subscription you did not pay per token.
